What to Watch this Weekend...11/25-11/29
Thanksgiving weekend is a big one for a lot of reasons...too much food, too much football, too much shopping, and just enough Christmas movies! The official start of the Christmas season, at least in my parents' home, has always been the Macy's Day Parade Thanksgiving morning. When Santa arrives with his trusted reindeer on the giant sleigh - the Christmas music starts playing, the tree goes up, and cookies are soon in the oven baking. A much newer tradition was started by Hallmark a few years back and involves Candace Cameron Bure, several nights of movie premieres, and a Thanksgiving weekend loaded with Rom Com movies and Stars! This year is no exception - and we have more movies than ever to look forward to with GAC Family and Lifetime, UPtv, Ion, and Netflix all joining in on the holiday fun!
Thanksgiving night, however, belongs to "The Nine Kittens of Christmas" premiering on Hallmark Channel and directed by friend of Rom Com Road, David Winning, it's the only movie premiering that night on any of the channels. More than almost any other movie this season, I'm looking forward to spending time with Marilee and Zachary again. Out of all the Christmas movies, on all the channels, the original "Nine Lives of Christmas" is one of my very favorites. I have never flipped through the channels and not stopped on the movie, sat and watched the remainder no matter what point in the story it is at - despite owning it and watching it frequently. I love the characters and how they are portrayed by Kimberly Sustad and Brandon Routh. I have high expectations for this sequel...and I'm hoping against hope the original storyline is left completely untouched. I'm hosting turkey day at my house - and they can watch football all they like until 8 PM when the movie room turns into Rom Com Central!
Another first this coming weekend will be Jen Lilley hosting a special Instagram Royal Watch Party! Her movie, "Royally Wrapped for Christmas", will debut Saturday night at 8 PM on GAC Family. Go to her Instagram at the start of the movie and join in on the fun! It's Jen's first Royal Rom Com!
I feel like this blog would be 12 pages long if I go through each of the movies. This coming weekend we'll have movies from so many Rom Com favorites...even Brooke Shields and Cary Elwes!!! So I think it's best to just offer you the list with photos. However, it's not every day Country Music Legends Reba McEntire and John Schneider (of whom I am a looooong time fan...Just a good ole boy...) star in a movie together. "Christmas in Tune" will premiere Friday night on Lifetime.
